Director of Finance
A Finance leadership opportunity to join a storied organization providing exceptional care to patients and the community for over 100 years! You will work in collaboration with the Leadership Team to drive continued financial success and outcomes, make strategic recommendations, mentor and support others, while supporting the mission of the organization.

The Director of Finance is responsible for leadership and oversight of financial operations and reporting for the health system. The Director is responsible for the integrity and compliance (which includes the completeness and accuracy) of all internal and external financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. This includes ensuring all financial statements are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP). In addition, the Director is responsible for the compliance and coordination of all audit requirements, plus tax and other regulatory filings including 990’s and the Cost Report. Director is responsible for the development of and compliance with accounting policies and procedures, proactively addressing technical accounting activities and oversight of general ledger and accounts payable operations. Director is expected to actively apply Lean principles and tools to support continuous systems improvement in their areas of responsibility. 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business/Healthcare related field required and 5 years related experience in public accounting and/or healthcare financial accounting.

  • Knowledge of cost-based reimbursement, external reporting (GAAP) requirements, internal controls, and strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to interpret and share data with internal and external customers at a a level understood by intended audience are required.

  • Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, Access or other database, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must be proficient with Accounting software.

  • Ability to research, plan, organize, and oversee short and long-term projects, programs and initiatives. Knowledge of various data systems used in healthcare.

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to effectively interact with customers to understand their needs and explain data.

  • Ability to train, supervise and mentor staff.

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.


Nonessential Skills and Experience:

  1. CPA Designation and HFMA certification preferred.

  2. Knowledge and experience with Lean and leading process improvement activities.
