Our exciting client is a global education technology company seeking a leader with excellent financial knowledge, skills, customer service instincts and understanding of financial systems to join our team as the VP Corporate Controller. The essential duties require an strong understanding of accounting principles including ASC 606. As a global organization, based in Minneapolis, MN we are seeking a highly qualified, detail orientated, flexible, self-starting Controller who will report directly to the CFO and be responsible for managing and overseeing all facets of its accounting operations including the monthly close cycle, financial reporting, internal controls and policy development.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

Direct and manage the company’s financial accounting and reporting activities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and best business practices. Monitor current trends in regulations, particularly those related to accounting and reporting issues that impact the company. Develop and implement effective systems, accounting policies and financial controls which maintain the integrity of all financial transactions and reporting of the Company
Perform duties of the office of the Treasurer
Manage the annual external audit process
Provide technical accounting support, GAAP research and associated documentation
Oversee disbursement activities, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and employee expense reports
Partner with FP&A team in resolution of complex accounting items, including revenue recognition
Oversee revenue recognition and billing activities to ensure proper revenue recognition and accurate and timely invoicing
Ensure the Company maintains regulatory and GAAP compliance with all corporate income, sales & property tax requirements
Participate in a wide variety of special projects as directed by the CFO or other members of senior management
Build, develop and manage a team of accounting professional capable of driving successful business decisions

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and CPA certification required. Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting desired. Must have at least 5 years of management experience in accounting and reporting
Prior Corporate Controller or equivalent experience, required
Demonstrated ability to build strong financial and accounting teams
Knowledge of GAAP, current trends and developments within field
Proven leadership, accountability and supervisory skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
ERP system experience and strong Excel skills required
